Backseat bandit being sought by Kamloops RCMP

KAMLOOPS – Police are looking for a suspect in an unusual robbery Saturday morning in Kamloops.

RCMP say a woman was stopped at a gas station to refuel her vehicle. When she went into the restroom, she left her purse in her vehicle. While she was out of sight, the suspect entered her vehicle. When she returned to her vehicle and drove away, the suspect grabbed her from the backseat.

She stopped and the suspect made his dash, apparently with cash he had removed from her purse.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. in the morning at the Sahali Esso in the 900 block of Columbia Street West..

The suspect’s image was captured on a security camera at the gas station.

• black ball cap with stripes on the right side and white logo on front,

• blue jeans

• grey sneakers with black laces

• shoulder black bag
