Logan Lake issues evacuation alert in response to Tremont Creek wildfire

KAMLOOPS — The District of Logan Lake issued an evacuation alert Friday (July 30) evening.

A statement signed by Mayor Robin Smith said it would be prudent for residents to prepare to leave the area with very short notice. The alert also affects Highland Valley Copper Operations west of Logan Lake.

According to the evacuation alert, attached is a travel route which residents must follow if the alert is followed by an evacuation order. A telephone number is also provided for residents to call in case transportation from the area is needed.

The Tremont Creek wildfire northwest of Logan Lake is measured at over 15,000 hectares. The Thompson-Nicola Regional District also updated its evacuation alerts and orders Friday in response.
