KAMLOOPS – Retirement is coming early for Michael Hewlett of Sorrento after a big lottery win this month. The Sorrento man won $500,000 playing the Extra in a July 13 Lotto Max draw.
The win will allow Hewlett to retire three years earlier than he expected. Hewlett and his retired wife plan to travel across the country. “We’re hoping to purchase a camper trailer,” says Hewlett. “I’ve always dreamed about traveling back to Quebec to see my family, and to travel to the East Coast with my wife.”
Hewlett purchased his winning ticket at the Matchbox Smoke & Vape Shop in Salmon Arm.
The BC Lottery Corporation says 2021 has seen B.C. lottery players redeem more than $22 million in prize-winning Extra tickets.
