KAMLOOPS – A former Kamloops man is facing 11 counts of sexual assault and one count of assault following a lengthy investigation that dates back to the fall of 2020. 28 year old Joel Eric Carlson was arrested in his new home town of Chilliwack Thursday.

Carlson came to the attention of RCMP in Vernon last September. He was arrested for alleged offences related to sexual assault and forcible confinement.

As a result, Kamloops RCMP issued a public safety notice and warned the public of the allegations. As a result of the notice, several more complaints were lodged and investigated.

“Having multiple victims come forward in Kamloops made this a complex investigation,” said Sergeant Nestor Baird of the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crimes Unit. “This investigation and the number of victims who came forward following the public safety advisory, reminds us of how many sexual assaults occur that are never reported to police for numerous reasons.”
