Kamloops RCMP searching for suspect after alleged purse snatching

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public’s help identifying an alleged purse thief this week.

In a release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says around 4 p.m. on Tuesday (July 27), police received a report of a purse snatching from a shopping cart at a store in the 1400-block of Hillside Drive.

A woman who was reportedly shopping in the store had left her purse in the cart and briefly stepped away from it. Another woman allegedly grabbed the purse out of the cart, then left the store in a black quad-cab GMC Sierra pickup truck.

Cst. Evelyn says surveillance footage captured an image of a suspect with two purses. She is described as follows:

• Caucasian female
• Long blond hair
• Wearing:
  • Dark blue top
  • Light blue spandex capris
  • Pink or purple flip flops
  • Sunglasses
  • Carrying a pink purse and a brown one
