Wildfire Service preparing for tough conditions as Kamloops Fire Centre heats up
Jul 28, 2021 | 4:14 PM
KAMLOOPS – The BC Wildfire Service says it is bracing for more significant fire behaviour in the coming days, as the region faces a predicted heat wave.
BC Wildfire Service Fire Information Officer Shannon Swift says crews have been able to make good progress in removing fuels from the eastern edge of the fire Wednesday (July 28). However she says the fire is expected to exhibit more aggressive behaviour and expand its boundaries with the hot weather setting in later this week.
The latest measurement has pegged the fire at 20 thousand hectares. It has led to Evacuation Alerts and Evacuation Orders from Westwold to the north and west sides of Okanagan Lake.
