B.C. Wildfire Service: Durand Lake fire under control, no reported growth at Two Mile Road fire for days
KAMLOOPS — Despite winds over the weekend causing concern near the Tremont Creek and Sparks Lake wildfires, B.C. Wildfire Service said there is positive news for some wildfires of note in the Kamloops Fire Centre.
The 289-hectare Durand Lake wildfire is listed as under control and is no longer a fire of note.
Fire Information Officer Noelle Kekula told CFJC Today they’re confident because they’ve got the machine guard around the Durand Lake wildfire, and a strong enough wet line around it.
“Right now, we still have crews on it that will be extinguishing the hot spots… in case the winds do ever come and may try to flare up again,” Kekula said. “We’ll probably still see smoke coming from that fire all summer long.”
