Ticket issued for Highway 5A fire south of Kamloops Saturday

KAMLOOPS — A man received a ticket under the Wildfire Act following a ditch fire near Running Horse Ranch Road Saturday (July 17) afternoon.

Kamloops Fire Rescue was soaking a grassy area when police arrived. Kamloops RCMP officers spoke with witnesses and arrested a suspect nearby.

RCMP said the source of the fire was allegedly a camp stove which had fallen off a post and onto the grass.

A violation ticket was issued under the Wildfire Act Section 10 (3), which may come with a penalty of more than $1,000.
