KAMLOOPS — For the second year in a row, the annual Jehovah’s Witnesses convention that regularly brings thousands of faithful to Kamloops has switched to an online format.

In a news release, the church says the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a break in a tradition that first began in 1962 with the first Kamloops conference.

The release notes annual conventions in Kamloops have had total attendance of nearly 209,000 people.

The local in-person convention is one of almost 6,000 in 240 countries around the world that have been called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
