City of Kamloops has additional emergency accesses in its plans

KAMLOOPS — While the East Interface Fire on Canada Day has sped up the process on exit routes from Juniper Ridge, the City of Kamloops has emergency accesses elsewhere within its boundaries on its mind.
David Trawin, Kamloops’ chief administrative officer, said the city is looking at connecting Copperhead and Hidden Valley in the future, as well us an exit in the new West Highland development in Aberdeen.
“The current developer is getting close to the extent of their property… it’s a balance between letting development go and expanding in terms of extending roads and try to put in emergency accesses in certain periods of time,” Trawin said regarding the West Highland development.
In the meantime, the city and the B.C. government are continuing discussions about the secondary access out of Juniper Ridge.
