Firefighters battling wildfire near Jacko Lake
KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: The City of Kamloops has stood down its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) as of 12:00 noon.
EARLIER: Fire crews are trying to contain a 33 hectare blaze just south of Aberdeen, in the area of Jacko Lake on the southern outskirts of Kamloops.
Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Captain Darryl Cooper says emergency officials were alerted to a fire in a forested area around 7:15 a.m. today (July 15).
The BC Wildfire Service says it is attacking the fire with three helicopters, some bush trucks and seven firefighters on the ground. Kamloops Fire Rescue is supporting those efforts with a water tender truck.
