Wildfire causes Highway 97 closure in South Cariboo

70 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Motorists beware: a wildfire has closed Highway 97 in both directions near 70 Mile House.
According to Drive BC, the highway is closed between North Bonaparte Road and 94 Mile for 32.3 kilometres (four kilometres south of 100 Mile House to 70 Mile House).
There is limited visibility due to smoke. A southbound alternative route can be found via Highway 25 to Highway 5. A northbound route goes from Highway 1 to Highway 5.
The closure has been prompted by the Flat Lake wildfire.
