District of 100 Mile House on evacuation alert

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — The District of 100 Mile House is now under evacuation alert due to the encroaching Flat Lake wildfire.

Mayor Mitch Campsall announced the alert late Wednesday morning (July 14).

It means all residents of 100 Mile House must be ready to leave the community on very short notice.

The Flat Lake wildfire was caused by lightning and was measured at 2,033 hectares as of Wednesday morning.

Earlier Wednesday, the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) announced an evacuation order of more than 1,000 rural properties in the path of the fire, putting more than 3,000 additional properties on alert.
