Two more evacuation alerts in place due to wildfire near Whitecroft

KAMLOOPS — Two evacuation alerts were issued by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) for properties in Electoral Area “P” (Rivers and the Peaks).

As of Sunday (July 11), three properties in Eileen Lake FSR – 6100, 6180, and 6289 Upper Louis Creek Rd. – and 11 properties North of Whitecroft – 3820 to 4361 Heffley-Louis Creek Rd. – are on alert due to the Embleton Mountain Wildfire.

The alerts come after 132 properties near Whitecroft were told to evacuate, and Sun Peaks Resort put out its own evacuation alert.

As of publication, the Embleton Mountain Wildfire is measured at around 250 hectares. It’s listed as a wildfire of note.

Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, although they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
