Two evacuation alerts near Canim Lake area

KAMLOOPS — Two evacuation alerts were issues by the Cariboo Regional District at the Emergency Operations Centre for 396 combined parcels in the Canim Lake Area.

The alerts cover 52,690 total hectares.

An evacuation alert has been issued to prepare residents to evacuate their premises or property should it be required.

Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation. However, they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

An interactive map shows which properties are affected. The Canim Lake wildfire is estimated at 1,250 hectares in size. B.C. Wildfire Service stated the suspected cause is lightning.
