Healthcare workers should wear masks until Phase 4 of B.C. reopening plan: Hamlets GM
KAMLOOPS — The general manager of The Hamlets at Westsyde believes healthcare staff should be wearing a mask until the province gets to the fourth and final stage of reopening in September.
Bob Attfield says the ministry of health will be announcing updated protocols for all healthcare staff next week. He believes that regardless of how many doses of COVID-19 vaccine a healthcare workers has received, they should be masking up.
“My perspective is regardless of whether you’ve had one vaccine, no vaccine, or both vaccines that until we get to stage four that all staff wear masks,” he noted. “I think getting away from having to change out their clothes would also be a next step in the protocols, but I think since we’re probably going to be heading into flu season in October, it’s probably a good practice to continue wearing our masks regardless.”
Attfield says 85 per cent of his staff have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 67 per cent are fully vaccinated.
