Jul 7, 2021 | 7:40 AM

KAMLOOPS — The Village of Lytton has issued a lengthy release following last week’s devastating wildfire.

The release says Village staff were alerted when someone banged on the office windows after hours.Staff contacted the Mayor and Fire Department and found firefighters were already battling fires, and the RCMP were evacuating residents on Fraser Street. That’s an area considered a possible starting point for the blaze.

The release adds, nearly every home in the center of the Village is gone. There are no services at the present time. Hydro and Telus are being allowed into the village for damage assessment and to cap services where they are a hazard to first responders.
