UPDATE: Napier Lake-area residents can return home after brief evacuation

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE (8:00 p.m.): The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has lifted the evacuation order for the Napier Lake area, but has kept the properties listed below on evacuation alert.

That means residents can return home, but must be ready to leave on very short notice.

EARLIER: The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation order for dozens of properties south of Kamloops near Napier Lake.

A wildfire ignited between Napier Lake and Stump Lake Wednesday afternoon (July 7).

People being ordered to leave immediately are associated to these addresses:

  • 8420 to 8588 Fraser Rd;
  • 80 to 200 Golden Quill Trail;
  • 7085 to 7745 Hwy 5A;
  • 11425 Kamloops-Merritt Hwy 5A;
  • 8745 to 8805 Long Lake Rd;
  • 8165 to 8895 Old Kamloops Rd;
  • 7630 to 7650 Raven Ridge Rd;
  • 6465 to 8145 Trapp Lake Rd;
  • 16 to 72 Windy Way;
  • Properties identified in this map

Residents are asked to register for emergency support services only if necessary. If they do require emergency support services, they are to register at the ESS centre located in Merritt, at 1950 Mamette Avenue.
