Railways working to get service back up

KAMLO0PS — Canada’s railways are trying to get back up to speed following the devastating wildfire in Lytton last week. Since so much traffic travels by rail, having the rail traffic stop is providing delivery problems.

CN was severely impacted by the fire, with the rail bridge partially destroyed. CN’s Matt Gaudreault told CFJC Today via email that CN is working with its customers to keep them abreast of developments. Gaudreault says they’re also working with authorities and Indigenous leadership regarding the next steps towards recovery, including repairs to the damaged bridge.

In a similar email, Salem Woodrow of CP says they resumed operations yesterday afternoon in the area. Woodrow says the railway has undertaken addition security measures and inspections during the extreme weather. All tracks were inspected prior to resuming service.
