TNRD issues evacuation order for Sabiston Creek properties due to Sparks Lake wildfire

KAMLOOPS — An evacuation order has been issued in the vicinity of Sabiston Lake by Chair Ken Gillis from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in Kamloops.

The Sparks Lake wildfire is threatening structures and the safety of residents in Electoral Area “J” (Copper Desert Country).

Because of the potential danger to life and safety, TNRD issued an evacuation order for the following addressed properties:

  • 2932 to 2964 Sabiston Creek Forest Service Road
  • other properties identified on the attached map
    (Thompson-Nicola Regional District).

Anyone in the described area, you must leave immediately.

Emergency Support Services will only be provided if an evacuee’s primary residence is one of the properties under evacuation order. If possible, residents are asked to make arrangements to stay with friends or family as commercial lodging may not be available.

Anyone whose primary residence is in the mentioned area is asked to report to the McArthur Island Sports Centre Parking lot at 1655 Island Pkwy in Kamloops, and remain in, or near to, the vehicle they arrived in.

Residents can self-register as an evacuee using the Evacuee Registration & Assistance (ERA) Tool online. An ESS volunteer will make contact using the phone number listed in self-registration.
