Air quality deteriorates in B.C. Interior as wildfires rage

KAMLOOPS — Air quality has become very poor in the Kamloops area and elsewhere in the Interior Thursday (July 1).

The current Air Quality Health Index measures the air quality in Kamloops at an 8 on a scale of 10.

A special air quality statement was put in place Wednesday.

Purple Air’s PM 2.5 monitors in Kamloops have slowly elevated throughout the day. As of mid-afternoon Thursday, several monitors were registering values in the mid-400s.

That means those with lung conditions especially are in immediate health danger and should remain inside.
