Casimir says the step was taken based on the advice of the First Nations Health Authority.

Tk’emlups has been a hive of activity for the past month as community groups and members of the public pay respects following the announcement that the unmarked graves of 215 suspected students were found near the former Kamloops Indian Residential School.

Another convoy is scheduled to arrive at in Kamloops Thursday, this one travelling from Enderby.

Casimir says anyone holding events in the community does so at their own risk.

Chief and council have also decided to close the range until further notice, due to the extreme fire risk.

A community cooling centre has been opened at the Sk’elep School of Excellence.
