McKay Creek wildfire leads to Evacuation Order

LILLOOET, B.C. — Residents in an area near Pavillion have been ordered to evacuate by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District.

The RCMP is assisting with the evacuation of people from the McKay Creek wildfire.

That ferocious fire was spotted Tuesday (June 29) and quickly exploded to 50 square kilometres in a matter of hours.

The BC Wildfire Service reports 46 personnel are fighting the blaze on the ground and are being supported by multiple helicopters and air tankers.
