KAMLOOPS — Due to extreme heat conditions, Kamloops RCMP have responded to nearly double the sudden deaths from the same period last year.
Since Friday (June 25), there have been six sudden deaths in Kamloops when the extreme heat began.
The cause and manner of these deaths is being determined by the B.C. Coroners Service, which will also conclude whether the death was heat related.
Kamloops RCMP have also received 43 calls to check the well-being of individuals. Some were directly related to the hot weather conditions. Last year, there were 34 requests.
