Blazers President and COO Don Moores dies at age 65

KAMLOOPS — The Kamlooops Blazers have had some losses in their history, but nothing as sad and as devastating as this.

Don Moores, the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Blazers has passed away.

Moores, who was 65, died of a heart attack today while playing golf.

A Kamloops native, Moores played junior hockey with the Kamloops Chiefs in the Western Hockey League for two seasons, from 1974 to 1976.

A third round draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings in 1976, he played two pro seasons in the minor leagues, before embarking on a media career.

First in broadcasting, including a time at Broadcast Center, CFJC, in 1979 and 1980.

Moores eventually went into print media.

After residing on Vancouver Island for several years, Don and his family returned to Kamloops..

In 2016 he was named the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Blazers.

Don was a dedicated family man, and a strong supporter of his hometown community.

He was a cherished friend to many in Kamloops and throughout the hockey world and will be sorrowly missed by his family and friends.
