Severe thunderstorm watch issued for South Thompson Wednesday

KAMLOOPS — The South Thompson region can potentially see severe thunderstorms with very strong wind gusts, intense lightning, and brief bursts of heavy rain, according to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.
An upper trough will move across the B.C. interior on Wednesday (June 30) as the historic ridge of high pressure shifts to the east.
This will result in isolated to scattered thunderstorms from Fort Nelson to Merritt. The main threats will be very strong wind gusts and intense lightning. Some areas could see bursts of heavy rain.
