Just 29 new COVID-19 cases in B.C., including 10 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — Interior Health has the most COVID-19 cases of any health region in B.C. Tuesday (June 29) — but the numbers are comparatively low.

In her latest report, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says B.C. had 29 new cases of the virus Tuesday, with ten in Interior Health.

Overall, B.C. has seen 147,578 cases of the virus since the pandemic arrived, spread out as follows:

  • 35,482 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 7)
  • 85,788 — Fraser Health (up by 7)
  • 5,165 — Island Health (up by 3)
  • 13,148 — Interior Health (up by 10)
  • 7,803 — Northern Health (unchanged)
  • 206 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 2)

Henry says there are 876 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Tuesday, a decrease of 54 from Monday. There are 110 people in hospital and 34 in intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 179 active cases, a decrease of 16 from Monday. There are nine people in hospital and five in intensive care.

There have been no new deaths due to the virus, leaving the provincial death toll at 1,754 and the Interior Health death toll at 157.

A total of 144,931 people are considered fully recovered from COVID-19, or 98 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry notes 78.3 per cent of adults and 77 per cent of all British Columbians aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The proportions for second doses are 31.6 per cent of adults and 29.5 per cent of all British Columbians 12 and older.
