Seventy-two new COVID-19 cases in B.C. Friday; 13 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. is heading into the weekend with 72 new cases of COVID-19.

The numbers are included in a Friday (June 25) update prepared by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, who notes there were 13 cases in Interior Health.

Overall, B.C. has recorded 147,418 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, distributed as follows:

  • 35,427 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 24)
  • 85,713 — Fraser Health (up by 29)
  • 5,161 — Island Health (up by 4)
  • 13,112 — Interior Health (up by 13)
  • 7,803 — Northern Health (up by 2)
  • 204 — Reside outside of Canada (no change)

The active COVID-19 caseload is down to 1,096 Friday, a decrease of 15 from Thursday. There are 108 people in hospital and 37 in critical care.

Two more people have died of the virus, raising the provincial death toll to 1,749.

A total of 144,554 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 98 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry reported 77.6 per cent of all adults have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 26.9 per cent with two doses. The proportion for British Columbians aged 12 or older is 76.2 per cent for at least one dose and 25.2 per cent with two doses.
