Clearwater prohibits campfires with hot dry weather on the way

KAMLOOPS – The District of Clearwater is joining the District of Barriere in banning campfires and any open burning within the district.

The ban will go into effect Saturday (June 26) at noon.

In a message tweeted out by Clearwater Mayor Merlin Blackwell, the ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Temperatures are predicted to climb above 40 degrees over the next several days in the North Thompson. The forecast offers no hints of rain.

Earlier this week, the District of Barriere implemented a similar ban.
