Kamloops’ Sandman Centre to open as cooling centre starting Friday
KAMLOOPS — Local residents having trouble staying out of the Kamloops heat this weekend will find relief at the city’s largest arena.
In a news release, the City of Kamloops says Sandman Centre’s concourse will open to the public on Friday (June 25) from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and for every day until the pending extreme heat event abates.
The capacity will be limited to 50 people to comply with pandemic-related public health orders. Mask-wearing and physical distancing will be required.
The City notes its spray parks are open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day as well, including at nearby Riverside Park.
