B.C. finds 75 new cases of COVID-19; 25.9 per cent of adults now fully vaccinated

VICTORIA — B.C. is reporting 75 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday (June 24), including 12 within Interior Health.

The totals were included in an updated provided by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

Overall, the province has found 147,346 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, spread out as follows:

  • 35,403 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 17)
  • 85,684 — Fraser Health (up by 44)
  • 5,157 — Island Health (up by 1)
  • 13,099 — Interior Health (up by 12)
  • 7,801 — Northern Health (up by 1)
  • 204 — Reside outside of Canada (no change)

Henry reports an active caseload of 1,111 Thursday, down by eight from Wednesday. There are 113 people in hospital and 34 in intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 273 active cases of the virus, up by one from Wednesday. There are nine patients hospitalized, including six in critical care.

Three more people have died of COVID-19, raising the provincial death toll to 1,747. The death toll in Interior Health remains at 155.

A total of 144,466 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 98 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry notes 77.5 per cent of all adults in B.C. have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 25.9 per cent have received two doses. The proportion for those aged 12 and older is 76 per cent for at least one dose and 24.2 per cent for two doses.
