People in Motion get familiarized with Kamloops RCMP
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP recently welcomed ‘People in Motion’ clients and support workers to the North Shore Community Detachment to help familiarize them with police.
The group that aims to improve the quality of life for people with diverse ability had a chance to get a little more comfortable around police, thanks to a special introduction event.
In an outdoor, socially distant setting, small groups of attendees were able to meet some of the city’s frontline officers, watch demonstrations and check out some of their tools, to help them connect with police and feel more comfortable turning to them for help. Along with meeting Police Service Dog ‘Kody’, participants got to check out police vehicles and vests.
For Alison Yamelst, seeing the RCMP truck and learning about how the pandemic has impacted police was her favourite part of the session.
