KAMLOOPS — Canada Day is going virtual again in Kamloops.

While Virtual Kamloops Canada Day 2021 will feature a line-up of musical performances, artists, and interactive activities, it will also provide opportunities to learn about Indigenous Peoples culture and history.

The City of Kamloops has been working with Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) to incorporate messaging into this year’s Virtual Canada Day event that will encourage education on Indigenous culture and heritage. The in-person Canada Day event at Riverside Park was cancelled by organizers earlier this spring due to COVID-19 public health restrictions.

“We are excited to be able to bring a virtual Canada Day event to the residents of Kamloops. We have been working with TteS to include important remarks, information, and cultural elements,” Kamloops Community Events Coordinator Dewi Evans said. “We are most grateful to our community partners who have contributed to our programming, especially TteS who have so many important responsibilities at this time.”
