KAMLOOPS – There are a pair of new wildfires burning southwest of Kamloops, filling the skies of the city with smoke.

The B.C. Wildfire Service reports the 9 hectare Hamilton Hill fire is burning just east of Merritt while the other fire is located just south of Lytton and is 10 hectares in size.

Both fires were spotted yesterday (June 16) and are thought to be human caused.

The wildfires are likely the source of smoke hanging over the Kamloops Lake area, according to the website firesmoke.ca.
