B.C. COVID-19 case count up by 108; 37 new cases in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. has found another 108 cases of COVID-19 Tuesday (June 15), including 37 within Interior Health.

The totals are included in an update prepared by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

The new cases bring the overall total in B.C. to 146,561 since the pandemic began, distributed thusly:

  • 35,257 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 11)
  • 85,324 — Fraser Health (up by 53)
  • 5,136 — Island Health (up by 4)
  • 12,871 — Interior Health (up by 37)
  • 7,770 — Northern Health (up by 3)
  • 202 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

Henry says the active COVID-19 caseload is 1,496, a decrease of 41 from Monday. There are 139 patients in hospital and 39 in intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 335 active cases of the virus Tuesday, up by six from Monday. There are 14 people in hospital and eight in critical care.

No new deaths were registered Tuesday, leaving the provincial death toll at 1,734 and the Interior Health death toll at 153.

A total of 143,299 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 98 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry says the proportion of adults who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine has reached 76.1 per cent. For those 12 and older, the total is now 74.4 per cent. A total of 4.1 million doses of vaccine have been administered, including 657,491 second doses.
