B.C. records 153 new cases of COVID-19, 39 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. has found another 153 COVID-19 cases Thursday (June 10) with 39 of them popping up in Interior Health.

The totals were included as part of a news conference delivered by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry Thursday.

There have been 145,996 cases overall in B.C. since the pandemic began, distributed thusly:

  • 35,199 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 21)
  • 85,016 — Fraser Health (up by 73)
  • 5,107 — Island Health (up by 11)
  • 12,732 — Interior Health (up by 39)
  • 7,741 — Northern Health (up by 9)
  • 200 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

There are 1,910 active cases in B.C. Thursday, a decrease of 65 from Wednesday. There are 176 people in hospital and 49 in intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 381 active cases, an increase of 15 from Wednesday. IH has 12 patients in hospital and eight in critical care.

Four more people have died of COVID-19, raising the provincial death toll to 1,729. The Interior Health death toll remains at 152.

A total of 142,314 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, representing 97 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry reported 74.9 per cent of all adults have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 72.8 per cent of all British Columbians aged 12 or older. She says 3,823,103 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 443,562 second doses.
