CLINTON, B.C. — No two days are the same for a police officer — especially in small, rural postings.

Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk and Cst. Marika Masters were at work at the Clinton detachment Friday (June 4) when a motorist drove up with an urgent problem.

The woman had been driving north on Highway 97 just south of Clinton when a large hawk emerged from the ditch and took flight, becoming lodged behind the grill of the Toyota Tundra.

Distressed, the bird was not able to escape on its own.

Buliziuk and Masters stepped in, with Buliziuk loosening the truck’s grill, allowing the hawk to break free. Masters stood by with a blanket in case the bird needed medical care.

The bird appeared to be uninjured, quickly taking off and gaining altitude as it flew out of sight.
