IH sets dates and times for vaccine clinics in rural communities

KAMLOOPS — Rural communities within Interior Health can expect COVID-19 vaccine clinics for adults receiving their second doses, and residents 12 and up receiving their first.

IH listed communities such as Ashcroft and Cache Creek, Barriere, Clearwater and Vavenby, and Sun Peaks as part of its 55 communities to receive COVID-19 vaccinations in the coming weeks and months.

The list included:

  • Anglemont – Art Holding Memorial Arena, 221 Shepherd Ave., Chase – June 7 to 18
  • Ashcroft – the Ashcroft HUB, 711 Hill St. – June 24 and 25, July 6 and 7
  • Barriere – Barriere Senior Centre, 4431 Barriere Town Rd. – May 31 to June 3, June 22 and 23
  • Cache Creek – the Ashcroft HUB, 711 Hill St., Ashcroft – June 24 and 25, July 6 and 7
  • Celista – Art Holding Memorial Arena, 221 Shepherd Ave., Chase – June 14 to 18, July 5 to 9
  • Chase – Art Holding Memorial Arena, 221 Shepherd Ave. – June 14 to 18, July 5 to 9
  • Clearwater – Wells Gray Curling Club, 428 Murtle Cres. – June 7 to 11
  • Clinton – Clinton Health and Wellness Centre, 1510 Cariboo Hwy – June 9 to 11

IH’s criteria for the clinics included small populations and barriers to accessing large immunization clinics, such as long-distance travel. The full list is online.

Anyone 18 and over in the mentioned rural communities who wants to register for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment will only be asked for legal name, date of birth, postal code, personal health number and current contact information.

B.C.’s COVID-19 vaccine call centre is open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and can be reached at 1 (877) 740-7747. Residents can also register on the B.C. government’s Get Vaccinated website.
