BCLC raising Progress Pride flag, unveiling updated crosswalk at headquarters

Jun 8, 2021 | 10:23 AM

KAMLOOPS — British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is celebrating Pride Month 2021 by raising the Progress flag and unveiling an updated Pride crosswalk at its Kamloops headquarters.

The Progress flag is like the rainbow flag, but it adds a chevron along the hoist that features black, brown, light blue, pink, and white stripes. It brings affected communities (marginalized Black people and people of colour, trans individuals and those living with or have lost their lives due to HIV/AIDS) to the forefront.

The arrow points to the right to show forward movement, while starting along the left edge to show that progress still needs to be made.

The flag-raising, crosswalk-unveiling ceremony takes place at BCLC Headquarters parking lot in Downtown Kamloops from noon to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday (June 10). Due to provincial health guidelines in response to COVID-19, the event is not open to the general public.
