NANAIMO β€” What would you do with $70 million?

The jackpot for the Tuesday, June 8 Lotto Max draw will again sit at the maximum amount after no-one matched the right numbers on Friday, June 4.

With the rollover in prize money, the number of $1 maxmillions prizes increased to 47, marking a record $117 million in cash available and breaking the record for the largest total lottery prize in Canadian history.

β€œThe previous Lotto Max record-breaking draw occurred on Oct. 26, 2018 and was $116 million combined, with a $60-million jackpot plus 56 Maxmillions prizes,” a statement from BCLC read.

To win the big prize, lotto players will need to beat out the one in 33,294,880 odds of winning.

The corporation said over $56 million in winnings were claimed to date through 2021 from Lotto Max play alone.

Nanaimo has enjoyed a purple patch of lotto luck in recent years.

At least 17 people have won $500,000 or more with a ticket purchased in the harbour city since 2012.

Despite the record, B.C. paces well off the largest lottery prize awarded, a $1.586 billion windfall, split between three winners in 2016.
