Silverbacks re-sign assistant coach, Kamloops local Carter Cochrane
SALMON ARM – Kamloops’ Carter Cochrane was re-signed by the Salmon Arm Silverbacks as the team’s assistant coach and director of scouting.
The 24-year-old Cochrane will spend two more seasons with the Silverbacks. The former Thompson Blazers U18 AAA head coach joined the Salmon Arm coaching staff in the 2018-19 British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) season.
“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to build upon what we have been doing and continue to take steps forward,” Cochrane said in a release. “I’d like to thank ownership and management for their support and their drive to build a winner in Salmon Arm. Most importantly, I’d like to thank the players for their constant work and their belief in me. I can’t wait to get back in the Shaw Centre with all the fans.”
Cochrane will return to Salmon Arm under Head Coach Tyler Shattock. Silverbacks General Manager Brooks Christensen said Cochrane played a big role for them in the 2021 BCHL Pod season, including breaking down video for the players, sending video to colleges, mentoring players, helping players work on high school and college classes, and managing the defencemen.
