KAMLOOPS — Strengthened fire bans in the Kamloops Fire Centre will take effect one week from Friday.
In a news release, the B.C. Wildfire Service says Category 2 and Category 3 fires — meaning any fire larger than a campfire — will be prohibited as of 12:00 noon on June 11.
In addition to the Category 2 and 3 burns, the prohibition also extends to fireworks, sky lanterns and burn barrels.
The order is projected to last until October 15, or until rescinded by the B.C. Wildfire Service.
