B.C. ends the week with 183 new COVID-19 cases Friday, 30 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. has found another 183 cases of COVID-19 Friday (June 4), including 30 in Interior Health.

The totals are part of an update prepared by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

Overall, the total of all COVID-19 cases in B.C. is now 145,049, spread out as follows:

  • 35,055 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 40)
  • 84,505 — Fraser Health (up by 101)
  • 5,067 — Island Health (up by 3)
  • 12,518 — Interior Health (up by 30)
  • 7,704 — Northern Health (up by 9)
  • 200 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

Henry noted 2,453 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Friday, a decrease of 110 from Thursday. There are 224 people in hospital and 59 in intensive care.

One more person has died of the virus, bringing the B.C. death toll to 1,710.

A total of 140,835 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 97 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry says a total of 72.4 per cent of all adults and 69.6 per cent of all people in B.C. age 12 or older have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

There has been a new COVID-19 outbreak at Kelowna General Hospital. Interior Health reports the outbreak is contained to the 3E wing, which is a surgical ward.
