Pendrel tops the podium at race in Italy

KAMLOOPS — Just over four months after giving birth to a daughter, Kamloops mountain bike racer Catharine Pendrel appears to be Olympic ready.

Returning to the track last month after the birth of Dara in late January, Pendrel raced in two World Cup events.

Today she was in Ital for an international mountain bike race.

The two time world champion, Commonwealth Games and Pan Am Games champion and Olympic bronze medalist in 2016, the 40-year old from Kamloops outpaced the field in todays race in Italy for a return to the top of the podium.

Pendrel finished in one hour, 40 minutes and 26 seconds, eight seconds ahead of another Canadian Sandra Walter.

There were among four Canadians to place in the top ten in todays race.

Pendrel is expecting to compete for Canada at the Tokyo Olympics in July.

Meanwhile her next stop is at a World Cup race in Austria next week.
