Drugs seized, donation boxes stolen and impaired driving highlights Kamloops RCMP’s week

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 376 calls for service from midnight Friday, May 28, to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.

Donation boxes stolen in Valleyview

Donation boxes were stolen from a business on the 1800-block of the East Trans Canada Highway on Sunday.

Surveillance footage showed a break-in occurred at around 2:00 a.m., with the suspect is described as a man with a smaller build, dressed in brown pants, a dark large jacket, and a bright-coloured ball cap.

Drugs and bear spray seized during suspicious person call

A man was arrested near the 150-block of Oriole Road Sunday evening after police were called after a report of a man putting his hand repeatedly in his pocket.

While police were en route, witnesses told officers that the man had tucked something in his sock and was now swinging a metal pole.

Bear spray and drugs were located on the man and seized for destruction. He was held in cells to sober up safely.

Hillside crash leads to impaired driving investigation

A car sustained significant damage after a single-vehicle crash that sheared off a lamp standard on the 1800-block of Hillside Drive Sunday night.

The driver’s injuries were non-life threatening. Breath tests performed displayed a “fail” reading, indicating a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08.

The man received a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound under the Motor Vehicle Act.
