KAMLOOPS — There are few details, but Kamloops RCMP has confirmed it’s investigating after graffiti was found on Monday (May 31) morning on the exterior of the historic St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on the reserve.

According to Cst. Crystal Evelyn, police received a mischief report just before noon. The graffiti, most of which was taken off in the early afternoon, read ‘Banished,’ ‘Evicted,’ and ‘Crime Scene’ with an ‘X’ spray-painted across the door.

The incident comes just days after the Tk’emlups Indian Band revealed the discovery of 215 children at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School on Thursday.
