VIDEO: Kamloops residents impacted by Italian-Canadian internment appreciate official apology

KAMLOOPS — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued an apology Thursday morning (May 27) for wrongdoing against Italian-Canadians during the Second World War.

Tens of thousands of Italian-Canadians were labeled enemy aliens and hundreds were forced to live in internment camps after Italy allied with Germany in 1940.

CFJC’s Jill Sperling tells us how two Kamloops residents are responding to the apology as they remember their ancestors and the pain caused by these actions.
