Contract awarded for highway work through Chase
KAMLOOPS – A $32 million contract to four-lane a stretch of the Trans-Canada highway through Chase has been awarded to CIF Construction Ltd. of Prince George.
The Ministry of Transportation says 1.6 kilometres of the highway will be expanded from two to four lanes from Chase West to the Chase Creek bridge project and will include a grade-separated interchange at Brooke Drive while extending improvements on Brooke Drive to Shuswap Avenue. A new sidewalk along Brooke Drive and a new separated pathway on Chase Creek Bridge for cyclists and pedestrians is also part of the project.
Construction will begin in July and is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2023.
This project is one of several planned by the province to increase the capacity and safety of the Trans-Canada from Kamloops to the Alberta border. The entire scope of work can be seen here on the provincial government’s website.
