KAMLOOPS – It has been a quiet long weekend on the wildfire front in the Kamloops Fire Centre and across the rest of British Columbia. However the situation could change in the coming days with thunderstorms predicted across parts of the B.C. Interior.
According to the BC Wildifre Centre, only one new fire has broken out over the weekend in Kamloops Fire Centre. The 1.4 hectare fire is located just southeast of Chase near Skimikin Road. No structures are being threatened.
Only one new fire was reported in the Cariboo Fire Centre. The small blaze was spotted Sunday near Clinton. It is believed to be human caused.
Across British Columbia, there have been only 5 new fires reported over the Victoria Day long weekend. With the exception of the fire near Skimikin Road, all are under one hectare in size.
