B.C. records 357 new COVID-19 cases, 33 within Interior Health

VICTORIA — As vaccinations increase, B.C. is continuing to see a declining level of COVID-19 spread.

In a briefing Thursday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 357 new cases of the virus in B.C., including 33 within Interior Health.

Overall, B.C. has found a total of 140,953 cases of COVID-19, spread out thusly:

• 34,160 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 80)
• 82,179 — Fraser Health (up by 210)
• 4,983 — Island Health (up by 12)
• 11,911 — Interior Health (up by 33)
• 7,524 — Northern Health (up by 22)
• 195 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

Henry noted an active case load of 4,636, a decrease of 179 from Wednesday. There are 331 people in hospital and 113 in critical and intensive care.

Three more people have died of COVID-19 in B.C., increasing the provincial death toll to 1,661.

There are 134,521 people considered fully recovered, or 95 per cent of all recorded cases.

A total of 2,687,360 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by health officials in B.C., including 138,906 second doses.
